Anyone trying to get their work sold locally knows that galleries and the public in general are keen to buy paintings of local images so this month we’re focusing on producing work based on your photos and sketches of a local landmark of your choice: Titchfield Haven, The Hovercraft museum, Breezes café, the Seagull pub, looking down on Pompey from Portsdown Hill and so on – there’s so much choice. This would be a great subject for any work you might want to submit to the Haven Artists’ show in November as well!
So, please come prepared with images, and try to spend some time out there, snapping photos and/or sketching – it can become surprisingly addictive – and see if you can capture some of the more unlikely scenes while you’re at it, e.g. the poor litter picker on the beach, or someone mending their beach hut perhaps.
When planning your composition, you can choose whether or not you want to have people or other features in it, or just have landscape without any interruption, therefore it’s a good idea to come prepared with plenty of choice, image-wise.
Rachel will give tips on how to enhance your final piece, e.g. how to create more depth, and then, once you’ve planned your composition, you can concentrate on our main piece of work, using the media of your choice.
